We went to our camp this past weekend and tried to start our houseboat. After reading the fuel gauge we noticed the boat was sitting pretty high in the water. It was pretty easy to see that someone had stolen about 20 gallons of gas from it's tank. <br /><br />I understand that after the hurricane fuel was hard to come by, but resorting to theft, man, that's sad. I've never seen that before. Not from a boat anyway.<br /><br />Sad huh?<br /><br />We only had 1/4 tank left, which wasn't enough to take it out for any length of time, so we left it where it was. We were too disgusted to go refill it.

Back in the 60s, a neighbor had his gas stolen on a regular basis. He put sugar in the gas of one tank. Then we noticed another neighbor kid wasn't out buzzing around in his little boat anymore. Hmmmmmm. :confused: ;)

with the price of fuel these days, I bet it's happening more and more. My sister has a pontoon boat with 2 6 gal tanks tied down in a rack on the back of each toon. last year someone just took the tanks.. at least they dis-connected the fuel lines instead of cutting them...

If it was taken during or just after the hurricane when no gas was to be had i would not feel to bad. People were in a pickle.

I've been in pickles....had our share of hurricanes here in Florida too.....never entertained the thought of rippin' off my neighbors gas though. :(

I to suffered a fuel theft from my boat about 40 gallons, I then invested in a locking fuel cap, it was a lot cheaper than the $100 in lost fuel.

i had a old van it ran on kero and gas mix i left 10 gallon's in it,i found a car just quit gee where you get gas? thinking i know my van more kero then gas for just this little jerk

you think fuel is pricey where you are in the uk its about 88 to 92p a ltr thats about 46cents in the states it realy puts you off going out we too have theft here aswell and they take it from cars even drive off from petrol stations without paying one person even put false plates on iis banger car filled up some tanks in th back and drove off more nerve than i got
