hey ya-all,

we just purchased a 01 22' crest fisherman dl toon. to me i think its in excellent shape, the carpet doesnt show any abnormal wear , all the seats are in good condition with no tears or cracks. the deck is solid though out and the underside shows no sign of rot. the wind screen at the drivers console is a bit faded and shows signs of sun cracking.

all the railing and panels are in good shape, has a dent in left side rear panel and its missing one of the trim pieces at that corner that covers the deck( nothing major just a slight woops)

it came with 3 life vests a huge saftey kit ( havent opened it yet but its the size of a suitcase) 2 deep cycle batts a garmin fishfinder and some other odd and ends rope anchor bumpers.

it has a merc 90 fourstroke hung on the back that looks like new, but in doing some cylinder test it appears it may need a valve job. im thinking it may just be carbon build up and needs to be run to burn it off . note: the hour meter on the dash sais 846 but the motor appears not to be the original, the oil filter sias 60 and the mounting holes have wear on them like it mounted on something else and the date code is 1 year off to the date of mfg of the boat. this is my biggest worry but im going to do general maintinence on it and give it a run and retest it.tommorow i figurer on spending about 250.00 on new spark plug wires( the ends of the others are corroded) set of spark plugs, oil , oil filter, new bottom end oil ( im sure thats not the correct term but the oil down at the prop), and a service manual , so i know what im doing.

it also came with a perfomance tandem axle trailer that is in decent shape. in the process of putting all new springs and new complete hubs on it at a cost of 200.00.

anyway here are the questions:

i paid 5200, just a tad over 6 with tax and all out the door for the package. good no good?

"about" how fast will it go. will that motor be strong enough to pull a tube, or be able to water ski behind?

i dont know the size of the fuel tank ( and i know it depends on how much you keep your hand in it) but how much fuel will it burn???

how will it handle ??? ive been on a single hull design 21' i/o volvo a trihull 18' o/b 50merc and a 19' toon 50 merc. to just try and give some comparison.

ive have read some threads about putting sheilds/plates on the bottom, is this a good option ??? weight versus performance??? i will be in the rivers all the time and it can/does get choppy at times. my fuel tank is on the bottom/ underside and appears to to make a nice "V" down to the prop.

ok i guess that about it for now, i know i get a bit long in the fingers when i type sorry about that.
