Running a Suzuki DT140 w/o carb cover

Is it okay to run a DT140 for a test run without the carb cover? It won't be a dusty day or anything and will only be for 20-30 minutes max.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Biederboat

It's not the dust that you have to worry about. You should be OK for short tests. Many engines will run a little lean with the airbox off so you don't want to run it at WOT for long periods of time. If you are just checking something on the carbs you should be OK for a short run. The airboxes are there primarily for intake silencing but the carbs are tuned to run with the airbox on, put it back when you're done.
