howdy,<br />1990 yamaha 250vx76*<br /><br />the good engine,,,,<br />livewell dripped saltwater on the battery, battery cable corroded, blew stator.<br />replaced stator {from "dunked" spare engine}. runs like a champ, but it won't get max rpm's 5100rpm top.<br />other one's at 5400.<br /><br /><br />help?<br />mike

If engine was dunked, the laminations on stator coils may have expanded slightly and due to gorrosion, not have the same permeability as original spec. I ran into this on a Johnson one time, and it acted as if it wanted to start, bu t the ststor coils had to be changed to get back the full spark,, good luck.
