100/1 oil ratio?

I was looking at a 1995 yammie 40 that the owner says is supposed to be oiled at 100/1 he says it has special needle bearings and this is the motor they made before they went oil injection, does this sound right?<br /><br /><br />thnx<br />mark

All manufacturers, to my knowledge, have rolled back that recommendation.<br /><br />The outboard will survive at that ratio, yet it does not leave enough oil on surfaces (bearing) to stop corrosion.
