Outboard size for Sea Chaser 21cc

I'm looking at a 21 ft center console by Sea Chaser to use on the Gulf of Mexico. I must choose between a Honda 4 Stroke 150 or a 225. Is 150 HP enough to carry 5 people and get onto plane? I'm not a speed demon but I do want enough power. Max rating for the boat is 225.

Howdy, Chris.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. :) <br /><br />150 is just a little bit too little, Chris.<br />I would not power that boat with less than 175hp.

When buying a Boat,...And you have the Option,......<br /><br />Buy ALL the Horsepower you can Afford.........<br /><br />If you Don't Need it,...... It'll Pay-Off when you Sell it...........<br /><br />In the mean time,.........<br />IF you NEED it,..................... It's There........... ;)
