Default Flushing 2002 yamaha 9.9 four stroke

I just bought it without an owners manual. The intake is under the cavitation plate so how do i flush it. Conventional rabbit ears will not fit.

There may be a hose connector outside, under the powerhead. Just connnect a hose and flush. You don't even need to run the motor.

There is no hose connector under yhe powerhead. Is the a special flusher that covers the intake under the cavitation plate? If so where can I find one? Thx a bunch

I have the Mercury version (Yamaha made the powerhead that year) and its intake is also on the underside of the A/V plate. According to the manual, just buy a flushing attachment and take off the prop each and every time you want to flush it. Or just use a bucket that will fit over the lower unit. (A small rectangular trash can fits mine perfectly.)

On the side of the lower unit you will see two screws. One is for lower unit lube and the other one that says "flush" can be removed and a special Yamaha adapter for a garden hose can be screwed into that hole. Turn on the garden hose water and fire that baby up! Later, Kerry
