Unknown shaft length

How can I tell the shaft length of my old motors (already traded them in)from model number or serial numbers. they were 1988 Yamaha 225 EXCEL's. I'm afraid my new motors are shorter as I'm getting cavitation.

Check this out to find your shaft length. I'm betting the old ones were 25" shaft motors based on the X in the model number and size of the motors. Where do the motors cavitation plates sit in relation to the bottom of the hull now? <br /> <br />
