Default Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust 4 Stroke Electric Start

My 9.9 routinely has starting problems due to what I think is low voltage. Once I clean electrical connections, she kicks over fine.... Does a 9.9 4 stroke electric start provide any charging to the battery when running? Also, I get a good idle and seem to get good high speed but there is a point where the engine tries to stall out during acceleration. If I milk the throttle, I can get thru that zone to high speeed. Ideas?

The 1986 9.9 Yamaha service manual shows it has a "CDI magneto" charging system made by HITACHI. It says: "Lighting voltage: 10V or more at 3000rpm; 15+/- 1.5V at 5,500 rpm". If I am not mistaken; my motor develops a reading of 14V or so when I ramped up the rpm higher than idling.

You need to start a new thread/post and give more details on your boat and current engine.

Gump -

Clean the carb for the stumbling. It is telling you there is gunk/trash. It will only get worse.
