Re: prop

Which 17ft model Key West boat do you have?ie..hull weight ,max rated horsepower.Select the prop that will allow your engine to run at or near the upper end of its recommended wot operating range.I'm guessing you'll end up with either a 13 3/4 X 15 or a 13 1/4 X 17 prop depending in which key west 17 footer you have.Only a water test will confirm your final selection.

Re: prop

Looks like the side console weighs in at about 1000-1100 lbs dry. Figure another 600-800 lbs for gear, fuel, motor and you. That figures out to be just as OB said. A 15-17" pitch would be close. You would just have to try one and see what the wide open throttle RPM's are. Some prop shops will let you try one out and return it if it's still like new and swap it out for another one. Or you can have it re-pitched for a nominal fee. If it were me, I'd go with the 17" prop for starters. A 15" may give you more get up and go, but may also over-rev the engine, too.
