I have a 1998 115 Yamaha that I recently purchased that has bad oxidation on the top of the engine cowling. I thought that I could wax or polish it out, but it's not working. Any suggestions? Does Yamaha sell the paint to match?

The only thing I could think of instead of painting it is to get some fine rubbing compound and try rubbing it out.coumpound will slowly remove the top layers of paint. Hopefully you can get the ozidized paint off before getting to the plastic / fiberglass.Hope this helpsKid

yamaha make 2 paint colours for their outboards. 93 and older and 94 and newer (not counting the dark blues). the cowling is fiberglass reinforced treat it like regular fiberglass when reworking it.
