Default Who has a 3 cylinder 40hp Yamaha?

I'm trying to identify some Yamaha 40hp carbs I bought for my 1986 40hp three cylinder. My Clymer Yamaha outboard shop manual only goes to 1989 or up to carb number 6H410. These carbs are marked Keihin 6H411-FA19 so I'm guessing at 1990 or 1991. Can someone look in a newer manual and give me the year and specs for these carbs? Also, these carbs do not use a choke system and don't have the butterfly in the front of the carbs. They use a type of enrichner that squirts fuel in the manifold behind the carbs. If someone has this type of setup can you tell me where the fitting is so I can install one on my old engine. Finally can someone confirm that I have an 1986 engine. The serial number is 40ETLJ 6H4L552918. My manual only tells me where the number is located but not much else. Thanks for any help.

Do your carbs have this same Keihin 6H411-FA19 part number on them? These carbs apear to be from a 90-91 but they don't have the choke butterfly in the front of them and they don't even have the holes for the choke shaft.

Anybody have a 1990 Yamaha 40hp with this type of carbs? I just need to know where to install the fuel line for the enrichner.

Someone out there in the world has got to have carbs like these that don't have chokes. These carbs are marked Keihin 6H411-FA19 so I'm guessing at 1990 or 1991. I just need to know where I can install the enrichner tube behind the carbs.

Thanks. The carbs that came off of my 86 did have the choke butterfly in them. The carbs I bought for it came from (approximately) a 1990. They don't have the butterfly or even a hole for the shaft. They do have an enrichner setup and I'm trying to figure out where to install the fitting for it that goes into the manifold behind the carbs. Other than that they are just like the other carbs.

I have 1998 Yamaha 40hp and mine does NOT have a choke system on it. It's really a pain in the butt. They came out with a choke kit (part # 90891-40138-00) they don sell it anymore. To cold start the engine I use starting fluid, after a squirt it's good for the day. If you run across this kit I would love to know how to get it.

J is indeed the US market designation for the 1986 model.
on the carbs give up and keep hunting for the correct set as your lighting coil, intake manifold and block assy isnt set up nor have the nipples for the auto enrichment circuits.
the prime start works incredibly well, never had any issues with it as long as you remain smarter than the gear your working with.
the trouble trying to adapt the later 94 and up auto enrichment will be way harder than finding the correct set of carbs.
I will look for the kit number but there really isnt anyway to add choke butterflys to the auto enrichment style carbs or at least none for the US market.
wish I could help with the carb numbers but for parts use at a dealership we dont use the numbers you posted.

good luck
