Running Rich?

I have a 1986 115 Yamaha (oil injected) that I believe it to be running a bit rich. She smokes an aweful lot on idle, and for the most part, idles fine. But however, at times a bit rough. I've been using Yamaha approved oil. I have yet to pull the plugs, but I assume that would be a good start. How can I remedy this situation?

Your headed in the right direction as for the first step. Replace the plugs with the correct ones as recommended by Yamaha. Not "as good as" or "about the same thing". I believe they should be NGK's.

Good luck!

Re: Running Rich?

Thanks for the tip, but is there an adjustment for the oil/fuel mixture? Is this something I would want to delve into, or should I let a professional mechanic handle it?

I would start with new plugs. Yamaha also makes an excellent fuel additive that decarbons engines. The name escapes me at the moment...Ring Free? Anyhow, try plugs and see how it goes before looking for other remedies.
