Woul appreciate your comments very much.

Yamaha 4 str, 25 h use; at 4000 RPM, notice tell tale water fuming; overheating buzzer sounds; I imediately stop (20 secs max) and raise engine: water intake clogged with dirt; remove dirt, inspect engine (somewhat hotter than usual), but all seems ok, lower it, re-start it; no apparent disfunction.

What to do:
Forget about it;
Have the engine checked;

Thanks

Sounds like you got her in time. I'd run a compression check though just to be sure.
Backlash

The overheat alarm pays off again! Sounds to me like it did what it was supposed to do and you did too. My guess would be that everything is OK, since it dosn't seem to be overheating anymore.

Hi Might want to change water pump! If the wasn't any water for more than a few seconds at 4000 RPM's the pump will fail sooner than you think, if it isn't melted now? Just a couple of bucks for peace of mind.
steve
