I have a question with oil injection on my twin 1988 2 stroke 150's. Underway, I got the port engine red alarm light and buzzer indicating that oil level in the main (engine mounted) tank reached the lower level.I shut down immediately, checked the level in the remote (boat) oil tank, saw that it was low but not empty (which I understand would stop automatic transfer to the main). I manually pumped the main tank full (using the engine mounted toggle) and cruised home with the yellow oil light still on. When I return to the boat, I will top off both oil tanks and would expect the yellow light to go out.My question is regarding bleeding the pump on the remote tank. I have the clymer manual and it says to bleed the pump after the bypass switch is used. I'd have to remove the supply line that runs from the pump to the engine, then run the pump to bleed it of air. Where would the air in the line have come from? Do I really need to do this? I'd have to pull a deck panel that is sealed with 5200 to gain access to the pump, so I'd rather not if I can help it. sealing your boat mounted oil bottle below deck isnt recommended. there is a small filter located at the pump on the back of the tank that requires service. if your boat mounted tank didnt run dry you wont have any air in the line to bleed. good luck
