each carb has a fuel inlet needle controlled by a float. dirt sometimes gets stuck here preventing the needle from closing. if the engine is running or you are hand priming during this issue fuel will overflow through the atmospheric vents in the carb. this is not a do it yourself job to fix however. without a set of vacuum guages you will not be able to reset the carbs sync. time for a visit to your dealer.

well, you guys were right about my problem. I removed the 4 carbs and found no 3 carb dirty. Idid the necessary cleaning job and reassembled the carb system and reinstalled it on my Yamaha 50. I restarted the motor and it ran great. You guys and my Yamaha service manual said I would need to balance the vacumn in the individual carbs. Please help me under stand why I didnt have to have this done? THANX ALOTTO

cause even a blind squrill can find the occasional acorn. if you did not disturb any throttle plate settings or air/fuel adjustments there is a good chance it will be close on reassembly. good luck and keep posting
