speedometer went bad in my 1996 boat. I know it is not nearly as important as the rpm guage, but since I fish alot of lakes with speed limits strictly enforced i feel i need to replace it. Anybody have advice on a good speedometer that is pretty close to accurate { my stock omc speedo was 4 mph off}. Just thought i would ask before i order one. Thanks

Re: speedometer question

Diggs, I'd replace the pitot tube and the tubing running from it to the gauge and see what happens before buying a new gauge. Problems are more likely to occur at the pitot than anywhere else, it might just be plugged with poo. If a new gauge is in order, I don't believe any is really better than another. They all seem to be inaccurate especially at high speeds.
