I bought a 1997 yamaha 9.9 last year and it ran fine for one year. This year it's a beast to start and keep running. I replaced the gas from last year and it helped for one day. I replaced the plugs from last year and it helped for one day. What I need to know is if there is a fuel filter I should be replacing as well and if yes where is it?. If the fuel to oil mixture is off will that affect the running of the motor as well? Thank you in advance

Sounds like you have goo in your carb from last year's fuel. Remove and either clean them extra well or put a carb kit in to be sure. make sure that there is absolutely nothing in the high speed jet.
