I am new to this, but need some help. I have a Yamaha 40HP outboard on my boat. I bought this boat in April, and the dealer told me that for the first tank of fuel, the motor needed to be double oiled, and they put the oil in the fuel tank. There is oil in the engine, also. I am half way through this initial tank, and took out my boat this weekend. It will not idle, and when I can get it in gear before it dies, will not run above 1500 RPM. I have not had it in the water for about 6 weeks, but last time, it ran great. Any ideas?

sounds like rainwater got in the gas. check the engine mounted filter for contamination. good luck and keep posting
