Default Yamaha ignition...

I own a 1989 Yamaha 150-ETXF. Is the ignition system (all components) off a 1987 Yam 150 the exact same system? Can it be used on my '89?Thanks,

Hi,I don't need any of it right now but I was thinking of buying the system from someone selling it just to have the parts if mine should fail. I'm kind of a pack rat for things like that and I'm sure these components are very expensive to replace new. Thanks for the info rodbolt!

Your wife will bury them with you based on my experience. I have several sets where we converted to the older electronics for race motors. My son has a shop in Florida and I have been able to sell a very few parts to him. The oil sensor and the rectifier have been the only thing I have sold more than once. Their failure rate is very low.

I didn't know they were so reliable and I don't need one in the coffin either. Maybe I'll just buy a new reel instead....Thanks Ray!
