DT3.5 cylinder problem

I have a 1981 Suzuki DT-3.5 single cylinder two-stroke that sat for a few years after using in salt water. During that time the piston became very tight in the cylinder, not from corrosion inside the cylinder, but I'm guessing corrosion in the water jacket distorted the cylinder and left a zero-clearance fit with the piston. I honed it out until I had clearance, but the problem recurred (zero clearance, or actually an interference fit between piston & cylinder at top of stroke) after running a short time. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this happening. The cylinder is no longer available, but over-sized pistons are. I'm reluctant to risk boring and installing an oversized piston because if the cylinder sleeve decides to change shape again all will be lost. Any sugestions? Thanks,

Bill
