Default Yamaha stalls and hard to start

Thanks in advance to any one that can help. I have a 98 Yamaha 115 2 stroke saltwater series. Ran great for years but I layoff boating( my fault ) for about 6 months. I tried to get it going again and the only way I could get it started with a few tries was with new plugs. Checked the gas and yea it looked bad. Drained the tank. Starts a little better but when I get it out and run it, it runs good at mid to upper RPM's but when I bring the RPM's down it stalls and is very hard to get going again. Think the carb's might be gummed up??? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Jeff

I think you have already answered your question. From your description and history, it sounds like your carbs are gummed up and need to be removed and have a throrough cleaning/rebuild. Its not hard, get a manual, order the rebuild kit, the carbs are pretty simple. Dismantle them, clean all the parts with spray carb cleaner and (this is important) blow out the parts and orifices with compressed air. Reassemble with the rebuild kit parts.
