1994 75hp merc , water in lower unit

What is the safe way of pressure testing the lower unit . I keep getting water in it . I checked the unit for cracks . The prop bushing doesnt look bad . I thought of pulling out a oil plug and hooking up a air hose with 10-20 psi to see if I can hear or see where the leak is . I am afraid to blow the seals if I do that . The mdl# is 1075412PD. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Right idea but the pressure sounds to high, I remember reading no more than 1-3 psi recomended but I can not find the referance. I guess that does'nt help... Be careful!! You can blow some good bubbles with .5-1 psi and a 3:1 water/Dawn mix. <br /><br />Are the gaskets on the drain and fill plugs new? Do you see any oil sheen around them? If so just replace them and see what happens. If you still get water, pull the wheel off, look around the shaft, outside of the bearing carrier and on the top (pull off lower unit) around the shift rod and drive shaft.
