Correct water pressure?

Running an 81 2.4/225hp. I replaced the impeller, t-stats & poppet recently and at idle WP is 12-14psi. Noticed last week while on a test run with the wife at the lake that at WOT, 5800-6000rpm, WP seemed to be around the same (10-12psi)<br />At mid, 3-4200rpm it was at 15-18psi.<br /><br />Is this normal? <br />Is the poppet opening to dump at higher rpm?<br />Temps are OK at all rpm's.<br /><br />All motors are not equel, Right?

I have an '02 90 hp 3 cyl (half of yours I guess). The service manual says Idle press 2-4 psig, WOT (Ha 6000 rpm published.....WOT rating max on the engine is 5500) 10-15 psig.<br /><br />The engine has a stat and press relief.<br /><br />Same numbers used for all engines of that series of 75 thru 125 hp.<br /><br />HTH,<br /><br />Mark
