mercury 60 6hp coil replacement

I recently bought a 1968 mercury 60 6hp. It starts on first or second pull every time. The only problem it runs for a while sometimes 1 minute sometimes 10. But always eventually dies off. Choking sometimes prolongs but not always. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Cary

I had one do this to me and I spent alot of money for someone to tell me to open the vent on the gas tank. It would run fine till the gas tank vapor locked and wouldn't let any gas out of the tank.

Thanks the vent was open but im going to make sure that its working properly

Also make sure that there isn't any blockages in the fuel line, connectors and the lines leading to the fuel pump and beyond. A partial blockage would do about the same thing.

Thanks, i rebuilt the fuel pump and that seemed to take care of it. Now i have a lot of oil in the test tank. I think i need to lean out my fuel mixture.
