I have just bought a rebuilt 250 Yamaha 1991 TUPP. I have a 1989 200 Yamaha currently on boat. Question is can I use my current wiring harness and gages now instaled plugs look different. there is one which is Square. Is ther is an adpater out there or will I have to buy new or used wiring harness??? Who may have ?Thanks Everett

I am not an expert in this field, but I too am trying to wire a different O/B on my boat. I bought a 1998 hull and I'm trying to wire a 1988 Mercury o/b. I'm using the harness that was originally on the o/b. My hull was a theft recovery that I bought at a local salvage yard. The theives had stripped the boat o/b and had cut the harness in several places. I was told that I would need to custom make my harness to fit my o/b to my hull. I bought a harness on e-bay that I plan on using bits & pieces of ($36.00). I would start with the manufacterer of the motor. Yamaha may be able to set you of with the portion of the harness that fits the motor end. You might also want to check with the manufacterer of the hull. If it's not too old, they may still have the harness in stock, or they may be able to point you to a surplus dealer that handles them. Starcraft was little help to me.I hope this helps.-Joe

The main harness is the same. The oil tank wire harness is different. The harness is cheap about 25.00 or Suzuki uses the same harness for 20.00. You can even make that harness if you buy the ends.
