Default Changing impeller on 200 Yamaha

Hi all, Is changing an impeller a difficult job?? I am pretty good as far as mechanics go but have really no idea about outboard engines. Is this a job that can be done with the help of a manual?? I have a 1999, 200HP SW series. Thanks and happy holidays

You should be able to change it with the manual. Also think about knocking out some other maintenance while you are at it.Mac

I often find an extra pair of hands very helpful when working on lower units.but overall it's pretty straight forward with a manual.

hello the only hard parts about that job is the retainer and cup assy on the top of the impeller and removing the impeller drive key. be care ful and follow the manual if you wish I can give you some tricks on removing them after you are looking at it. good luck and keep posting
