i am trying to remove the lower unit on my merc 9.9 and after removing the three bolts that hold it to the exhaust housing, it only drops about an inch and a half. i have the manual and read the section on removal. do i have to unhook the shifter shaft and if so, where does it unhook? the manual is vague in this area. thanks again for the help.
