There's usually a relief valve to bypass the trim unit. Look on the right side of the bracket when you're behind the boat, there should be a hole on the bottom. Use a large flat screwdriver and a couple of turn couterclockwise should do the trick.<br /><br />As for the power trim unit, it could be a lots of things. Best way is to find on wich side is your problem: follow the wires that cames from the power trim motor, there sould be a place under the cowl where you can disconnect them (usually a green and a blue wires). Once disconnected, connect those that came from the power trim motor directly to a battery. If the motor goes up or down and then in the opposite direction when you invert the cables, it will tell you that the problem is in the remaining part of the system (from the connection to the switch). If it doesn't work, the problem is somewhere between the connection and the trim cylinder.<br /><br />If a had to take a bet, i'll say one of the relays is shot!
