Re: Mercury Mariner Question

I do not have the motor now. I am negotiating a buy. Guy selling says 1994 80HP Mariner. I just want to know if they made a 1994 Mariner. I appreciate your reply but am at this point in need of answers to the posted questions. I expect him to email me the model # soon until then I am just trying to determine if the deal is worth pursuing of if I am being fed a raw bit of goods. Thank you again for your replies.

Re: Mercury Mariner Question

I'm sitting here looking at the '94 Mariner sales brochure.

75-90 hp, no 80.

3 cyl, 84.6 cu in, 2.3:1 gear box, 16 amp alt., power trim standard, 305 lbs, loop charged, oil injected.

I'm going to guess that the only difference is performance related like jets, or fuel scavenging. Since both are the same cu in, doubt that combustion changes (like higher compression on the 90) were part of the hp increase.

HTH,

Mark

1980 it's amazing that when a mistake is made it's always in the sellers favor isn't it
