inherited the boat and engine which had been sitting at least 18 months w/ a 3/4 full tank of fuel. Changed the h20/water filter and oil. Have not changed the fuel - yet. Engine starts fine and throttles up nicely when in nuetral. Put it on the water and could not push her over 2000 rpm. Engine dn't die, but wouldn't throttle up. <br />Any ideas? Carbs? Filters? I'm guessing bad gas and or gunk, but why would it throttle fine out of gear?

sounds like jets got gunk in em. have to clean or try fuel cleaner stabilizer, should change old gas , try small tank with new fuel and cleaner in it. check the simple stuff first, good luck ron

I forgot to add that I did add stabilizer before I fired it up. How do you clean the jets?
