Hello Everyone,

I have a 2001 150HP Outboard Mercury motor. The Power Trim will not work. Everytime I try to lower the motor down, the 20amp fuse blows (accessory fuse). However, the motor will trim upward. I'm guessing the relay is bad???? My questions is, if you have a bad relay, will it cause the fuse to blow?

I accidently reversed the connections on the battery momentarly (I know, very stupid mistake), and I think this is what has caused the problem. By doing the reversing of the connections, will this cause the relays to go bad??

Also, I'm not getting any power to the starter motor. Is there a separate relay/fuse for the starter?

Appreciate all the help. Thanks,

Cliff

Re: Power Trim Down Doesn't Work - Blowing Fuse

I pulled out the relays, put in new fuses, and then the ignition works. However, when I try to power down the motor, the fuse blows. So, I believe the relays are good, since I had them removed during the test. Something is drawing more than 20amps.....not sure what.
