Leaking Carburetor?

Each time I pull my merc 1400 (1978) forward out of the water it leaks a good bit of fuel. I noticed there is a built in tray below the carburetors that is designed to catch fuel spilling out. Is this leakage normal or does it indicate a problem...such as a stuck float switch or something?

Nah Rusty, that's normal.

Fuel will leak out because the carbs are at an extreme angle and the float won't apply enough force through boyacy at that angle. As long as there's no fuel coming out when the engine is down, you're ok
