1998 Mercury 60Hp 3 Cylinder Power Tilt / Trim and remote throttle.

It has a warning module that takes input from oil level and engine temp etc but I am getting no sound. Does the warning module contain the horn or should that be else where?

Regards

Chris

Try grounding your temperature sensor wire momentarily with the key in the run position. You should hear an audible solid tone alarm. On most motors I've seen the horn is part of the controls, or mounted under the helm. When you turn your key, can you hear a beep?

I has a similar problem (Merc 1993 60hp 3 cyl). I heard the alarm when i ground the temp or low oil sensor but the self test tone at start-up quit working a couple of years ago. Any idea?

I have a 3000 remote control and the horn is tied into the wiring bundle adjacent to the control. The temp test and overtemp sensor work ok but no startup horn. Dunno about the oil level as I haven't been there yet..'02 90 hp just purchased.

Mark

I have a 2003 115 Classic with a horn under the dash and have never had a start up sound but it does work when I ground out the over temp sensor?

Re: warning module does it include horn

Hi! I have a 2003 Merc 125 Saltwater with the same problem. It doesn't make a noise at startup or low oil. I grounded out the temp sw, and it makes a loud alarm sound. Also, with the sw grounded, my choke works. It doesn't work without the ground in place. Checking the book, the wiring from the oil level sensor and the hi temp sw are supposed to go to and alarm module. Guess what? No alarm module on my boat! Did a previous owner remove it? Was it ever there? Anybody know? Thanks for any help.
