I have a 1994 200 hp 2.5efi Mercury Black Max engine on a boat that I recently purchased. The engine runs great, however, for no patterned reason (except that usually at speeds over 35mph and while turning) the low oil/high heat sensor in the consold of the boat (Astro DC20) will go off. When I bring the boat back to neutral and just idle it usually goes off in a minute or so. I called the marina and ask what they thought and they said it was probably the oil pump gear on the crank that is nylon and it is probably brittle and wearing out and it would cost about $2000.00 to repair. I just can't believe it can you help?? Please  Mongoose

Ron, Unfortunatly, I checked the screen and it is clean as a whistle! I also read that the engine mounted tank must be full with oil and I am suppose to loosen the cap on the engine mount and let it fully pressurize then tighten the cap and the remote mounted tank should be no more than 3/4 full to have effective presurization in the system. It looks like mine is full up to the neck. Is that full enough or should I start it up and let it pump out the cap and tighten it?
Thanks
Craig
