The last time I went out I broke my shift cable, so recently I have replaced both my throttle and shift cable. I am having problems adjusting the cables, any help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br /> john
No problem. Disconnect both throttle and shift cables at the engine. Make sure the shifter on the engine is in neutral and that the control box lever is also in neutral. Make sure you have the shift cable in your hand. Move the throttle lever slightly. The first cable to move is the shifter. Go back to neutral and hold the end of the shift cable next to the shifter on the engine. If the cable end does not slip into the shifter WITHOUT MOVING ANYTHING you need to adjust the trunion (threaded barrel on the cable) until the cable can be attached. Do the same thing for the throttle making sure the throttle linkage on the engine is fully against the idle stop. If you have to move anything to attach the cable you did it wrong. The trunion and the cable end should align perfectly when properly when the trunion is set correctly.
