1350 1971 tilt question

it does not have trim & tilt. when i lift it up should the cylinder hold the motor up. or is there a catch or latch i not seeing.

I have a 71 140. It has a small tab. Right by the transsom mount. Just a couple of inches from where the steering comes into the engine. The motor has to be fully up then you flip the little tab over.

This lever is not for trailering; just beaching. I can/will break if you try to trailer with it and your engine could come slamming down and could damage the transom or engine. Use a transom saver for trailering, or if you have enough clearance (you decide how much) leave it vertical when trailering.<br /><br />Mark

i know texasmark, i just want it to stay up while doing maintenance on the hull. it gets heavy to hold.
