If your motor is a late model with solid state ignition, you may have a bad CDI unit (the black box, not the coil which has the plug wire coming from it) and this should be checked by replacing it with a known good unit. If you have to pull the flywheel, remove the flywheel nut and apply a good penetrating oil around the crankshaft, allow it to soak in for several hours, replace the nut so it is even with the end of the crank and give it a couple good whacks with a hammer - while prying up on the flywheel. If this doesn't do it you may have to use a puller. If it is an older motor with points, you can clean and adjust the points thru the slots in the flywheel which may take care of the problem. The newer motors with CDI dont have slots in the flywheel.
