I have a 1984 Mariner 150 the motor will start and run, but lacks the power to get on plane.

I have checked to make sure the carburators open full and in sync. Compression is good. Carburators have had cleaner ran through them as well. The wiring harness for the stators has the plastic covering cracking on them. Where do i go from here??

I am located in oklahoma so if anyone knows of a good boat mechanic i would greatly appreciate the help.

Two things. Dirty carbs or ailing fuel pump.

The carbs can't be cleaned by simply runner cleaner through them. They need to be taken off the engine, disassembled, carb cleaner and then every orfice and passage blown out and dried with compressed air. Then reassembled with new gaskets.

Checking the fuel pump is easy. While giving it throttle, have someone pump the primer bulb. If this saves the engine from falling on its face its time for a fuel pump rebuild.

Good luck
