No Neutral or reverse

I have a 75 Mercury 50HP i dropped the lower end yesterday when I put it back I have no reverse or neutral. The lever pulls fine and the engine starts what gives????<br /><br />Also I have no water going from the tell tale hole but water pump looks okay ..any ideas how to flush it???? thanks Erik

OK... I'm gonna try to keep this short...<br /><br />When I pulled my lower unit I found that the travel from forward to neutral to reverse was enormous! From neutral my lower unit shifter could be turn 1/3 of a turn in each direction.<br /><br />But, if I moved my Shift lever in the boat the shifter in the mid section would turn 1/10 of a turn max!<br /><br />So I opted to attach the lower unit in neutral.<br /><br />If you turned the main shaft in the lower unit your could have reversed the blades in the water pump. They could've broken off if they were perished to begin with.
