i have a 2001 225 vmax it started cutting out at 5000 rpm. if i let on and off the throttle it takes right off and runs fine only to keep repeating. also doesnt do this all of the time i have checked fuel filters
If it's a 3 liter, check the exhaust tube in the rear of the cowl. They go bad and sent smoke and water in the cowl, usually affecting top end only. Try running it with the cowl off.
