I know that several of you remember that I have have a problem with my 1987 150 Merc sence I bought it about 2 years ago.

For those that dont, It had a lean condition that made it caugh at Idle and it wouldnt take fuel slowly unless I chocked it a bit before taking off. I learned to live with it though and kept putting off looking into it untill tonight.

I have the intake system off, and it appears that the gasket was leaking along the bottom where the most fuel pools. I did notice that there was allways a lot of fuel around the bottom of the engine, I thought it was the carbs leaking off.

Ill put it all back together tomorrow, I can see that it will take the most of the day. Only took about 1 1/2 hours to get it all off.

I have a whole intake system with rebuilt carbs, new reeds and all just setting here so I dont have to go through it all, just assemble.

Well, got it all done and it runs. Thats a good thing.

I noticed a bunch of tan dust all over everything when I took the cowling off to start the project. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I thought, whats this???? Well it seems that the foam sound deadening was deteriorating and guess where all that crap was going????? Yep right through the engine. Well, I did a compression check and everything is right where it was when I bought the boat, (120 across the board), so I guess I escaped the big one this time.

Im going to drop the boat off tomorrow and have everything link and synced by a pro, never been done before. Sure Idles nice on the muffs, much better than before.

I have some opolstery being done also and Ill do some polishing tonight. Getting ready for them Bass's. :D :D I also remounted my windsheilds, (If you want to call them that). The way they were allways bothered me, there were no gromets between the mount and the plexiglass. There is now. Its nice making things right and how you want them on "your" boat. :D
