I have a Merc with no ID plate on it. When I puchased it it came with an owners manual which has serial # OB 177541 , Model # 90 150 22870 686 handwritten on it. Also it says Extra Long Shaft.Measured from the bracket(top of transom) to the cavitation plate is about 25"

My questions are:

How do I measure to find the length ?

How many of these motors are out there?

What are the applications for an extra long shaft?Sure is heavy.

Can a long shaft replace a regular shaft on the same boat with out modifying the boat?

Appreciate all knowldgeable repplies.
