Could anyone please tell me how to find out the correct shifter for a 75hp Mercury Outboard. The actual model number of the engine is Model 1075625.

The only numbers I see on the removed Quicksilver shifter is 85892. I need to buy another one but am not sure what part to buy.

Any help would be appreciated.

The serial # of your outboard sounds like it is really old.?..How does the wire harness connect at the motor end.?..Does it connect on the side on the outside.? ( a large plug.?)...Or does the harness go inside the wrap around cover and connect there..( a round plug.?)...Is it four or six cylinder.?...

IT is a 1985 75hp ELPT.

I am out of town working at the moment. I will check on the connections when I get back.

Inlineal-
I believe he posted the model # not the serial #.

hkellar-
Go to www.mercurypartsexpress.com, type in your serial, not model, number and there you will find the part number you are in search of.

-good luck
andy
