wire harness adapter 1986 to 1978

is the such a thing that would allow me to use my controls from a 1986 90hp<br />merc , and use it on my 1978 115hp inline? they have two different wire<br />harness's. my 1978 remote control wire harness is complete garbage, whilst<br />my 1986 remote control wire harness is in like new condition.<br /><br />is there an adaptor available anywhere for this?

Yes. I have an new control with the eight pin male plug. I bought an harness adapter to have the seven pin female plug to plug in my motor. It is a cable with the new style plug on the conrtol end and the seven pin plug on the motor end. I bought it at a local Mercury dealer.

You can find new after market replacement harnesses also. Try Ebay and look in the buy it now stores
