Hello all,

I just bought an '00 used rig. It has a merc control box with a seperate wiring harness and plug. The plug has a cap on it and inside are five male pin connections. Would anyone here happen to know what it is for (the prior owner didn't)?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Re: Mercury control box question

I believe it is for accessories (ex: Tachometer). Merc has had these plugs on their control boxes for a very long time.

Re: Mercury control box question

Purple wire = 12 V. Pos. from ignition; Grey = Tach signal; Tan or tan blue = Temperature switch to warning horn or temperature sender to gauge; Black = Ground; Brown with white stripe = Trim sender to trim gauge.
