We are running 4 boats from Gamba, Gabon (Central Africa) with 90HP Mercury 4stroke outboards. One by one, our engines have failed due to corrosion of the outlet manifolds, which resulted to expensive repairs and downtime. Almost in all the cases with almost new engines (approx 200 running hours!). We now know this is due to the quality of gasoline available, which makes the exhaust gases corrosive...

Have any of you guys out there got experiences similar to this? Any solutions? And (since we are about to buy some replacements) are there better options (other brands/types) to buy if the fuel available is of dodgy quality?
