1996 60 HP Mercury. On 3 occasions engine trimed to full up without warning. First 2 times I was able to lower engine using switch on side of engine. Last time switch would not work and engine remains up. How can I bypass hydraulics and get motor down? Any idea what may be the problem?

Re: Trim Problem

Welcome to iboats. :)

The usual culprit is rainwater or corrosion in a trim switch. You just have to find which one. Disconnect that switch and operate the trim with another. You'll have one on the throttle handle, one on the motor, and sometimes another in the bow or elsewhere.

Re: Trim Problem

Thank you WillyBWright. I will check the switches. Ban you give me a clue on how to get the engine down?
