Need some advice, guys. I have a 2001 115 Merc that runs fine, but when I hammer down it slowly accelerates, the RPM slowly increases and it gets up on the plane. The RPM only goes up to about 4000 RPM at WOT, and according to the shop manual it should be 4750-5250 RPM. I'm thinking it is the prop-it is a Merc Laser II with a 26 pitch-and I'm thinking I need a smaller prop. This is the prop that fame with the boat. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Most marine shops have prop charts that give different sizes for horsepower/boat size..etc...I would consult a local dealer in your area..26 pitch sounds high ..

Much too high.<br />Depending on the type of boat were talking 21/22 pitch.

Thanks, guys. inlineal, I called the dealer and was told that particular boat/engine combo needs a 24 pitch prop. Thanks for the idea!
