High voltage

1977 850. Serial no. 4592506. Would a spark plug not firing cause a higher voltage on the volt meter. At WOT I am getting 15-15.5 Volts. If I turn on the lights, it drops to about 14 volts. Engine not running is 12 volts.

No a spark plug not firing shouldn't cause a higher charging voltage. A fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. If you are reading 12 volts it might be a bit old. <br /><br />15 volts is fine for electronics, it is the 16,17,18 volts you want to be weary of. If it bothers you just run an extra electrical accessory.<br /><br />-andy
